When a developer ships an official update, the previous modded build usually stops working. Here is why, and how to move across safely.
Why mods break on update
A MOD is a patched copy of a specific build. New official code invalidates those patches, so the modder has to rebuild against the new version. Until they do, the old APK is the only working one.
Protect your progress first
If the game stores saves locally, back up its folder under Android/data before touching anything. Cloud-synced games are safer, but a cloud save written by a modded client can conflict.
Installing the new build
Install the new APK over the old one when the signature matches. If it does not, uninstall first — and accept that local saves may be lost.
